At ElderFIT, our mission is to help seniors across the country stay active, independent, and confident through safe, in-home fitness training. That’s why we’re shining the spotlight on Sara, one of the talented personal trainers serving the Bend, Oregon area.
Her path to becoming a personal trainer grew out of a lifelong passion for movement and how it shapes overall quality of life. “Becoming a trainer allowed me to combine that passion with helping others feel stronger, more capable, and more confident in their bodies,” she says. For Sara, fitness is about helping clients rediscover their strength and self-belief at any age.
When it comes to working with seniors, Sara’s enthusiasm is infectious.
“I love this group because of their strong motivation to maintain functional ability, strength, and independence,” she explains. “They bring so much life experience, and it’s rewarding to watch them work hard, make progress, and feel how exercise improves their day-to-day lives.” She especially enjoys that her clients’ goals are often focused less on appearance and more on function, fun, and living fully.
Sara brings nearly 20 years of strength training experience to her work and practices what she teaches. She aims to lift four times per week and, these days, stays active chasing her two toddlers or enjoying long walks with her family and dog.
Her go-to exercises? Unilateral leg movements — like single-leg Romanian deadlifts, split squats, and lateral lunges — which she says are great for improving balance, strength, and stability.
Originally from Southern California, Sara settled in Santa Barbara for 17 years before relocating to Bend about four years ago. Outside of training, she’s passionate about food and loves to cook with fresh, local, and seasonal ingredients — often finding creative ways to make vegetables and high-quality protein the star of the plate.
Whether she’s helping a client regain confidence after an injury or simply move more freely through daily life, Sara’s supportive, encouraging approach embodies what ElderFIT is all about: helping seniors age strong and live fully.
